Penelope Todd

Penelope currently lives in Dunedin.  She was a nurse but now writes and edits books.  She used to write under the name Penelope Huber.

The Watermark Trilogy:

Book cover of 'Zillah'.

Watermark

Zillah ditches her safe holiday for a more adventurous one - following a hand-drawn map given to her by some guy. But events get a bit out of control - and it seems like everything's against her.  How will she get out of it?

Dark

A year on, Zillah returns to Roimata, but it's not the happy visit she'd hoped for. There's another visit - and Joss is spiraling out of control.

Zillah

Zillah takes refuge at Roimata after a traumatic working holiday.

Other books:

Box

Derik's in hiding.  Hiding from adult society.  Hiding from the people who want to implant a device to combat diseases.  But Derik's parents have been wary of its other effects - those implanted lose their emotions - and so Derik's out on street, keeping his feelings.  Keeping his personality.

Boy next door

Hilary is a thirteen year old girl living with only her dad after her mother died from a car accident. And one day a boy is moving in next door. Hilary is intrigued by him, and wants to know the reason of why he is unpacking the removal van on his own, and where his parents are. Joe is almost the same age as Hilary, who looks fierce and secretive. Hilary thinks Joe's glamorous mom - Margot is just about perfect. But she keeps leaving Joe on his own. Since Hilary's own mother died she doesn't reckon kids should let their mothers out of sight.
Best character: Hilary
4 stars.

Lucy, 16

Peri

Peri's attracted to Max - who's slightly dangerous.  But so's Peri's brother, Luke.  How can Peri balance her attraction and protect Luke, at the same time?

Three's a crowd

Anna and Polly are friends.  But when Anna goes on holiday with Polly and her family, she finds out that some of Polly's other friends aren't that great.
