Father and child reunion: how to bring the dads we need to the children we love
Warren Farrell, MA PhD
This book is a must read for any father going through a divorce of applying for custody of their children. Based on over 30 years of research in various countries, this book advocates joint custody for children or the bulk of custody with fathers. This is a fascinating book to read and offers a valuable insight into what fathers and mothers each bring to the development of their children - and why fathers are so important for children.

Parenting partners: how to encourage dads to participate in the daily lives of their children
Robert Frank and Kathryn Livingston
Written by a family therapist and father of 2 children this refreshing book will strike a familiar cord with many parents. It covers topics such as planning weekends, communicating needs without arguing and negotiating with your spouse for personal time. I found that the focus on the "second shift" was excellent, you know that crazy rush hour (more like 3 hours) when there are the pickups, the dinner, the homework, the baths, the pets, the laundry, the bedtime routine. This is a really worthwhile book that I highly recommend to both fathers and mothers.
