ADHD and ADD

A.D.D and A.D.H.D are conditions that affect millions of people around the world.

These disorders are known by their abbreviations of A.D.D and A.D.H.D.  A.D.D is short for Attention Deficit Disorder, while A.D.H.D is short for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.  It is not uncommon to find the two terms used for the same disorder, it depends on where and when the information was published.

Understanding ADHD: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

Dr. Christopher Green and Dr. Kit Chee

There is so much to learn and understand about ADHD - and this is the perfect place to start.  Dr. Christopher Green is well known and respected for his knowledge about child development as the author of the popular Toddler Taming amongst others.  This book is concise, well laid out, and informative.  If you suspect that your child may have ADHD, or have had it suggested to you - then read this book to gain a firm grounding in what the condition is, what some of the indicators are, and what it could mean for your child.

The A.D.D. book : new understandings, new approaches to parenting your child

Willaim Sears, M.D. and Lynda Thompson, PH.D.

A.D.D has become a controversial topic in many ways.  This comprehensive book is the perfect introduction to A.D.D and provides insight into A.D.H.D as well.  This book is daunting to look at to begin with, but the authors take you through a logical and progressive path through the signs that your child may have A.D.D - and then through the other explanations as to why your child may behave the way they do.  Although this book is American it is a valuable tool for any parent who has a child with A.D.D. or who may be concerned that their child may have it.
