Here are some books to get you started on your journey to parenthood. There are loads of resources available from all of our libraries about pregnancy and health care for pregnant mothers. You may also want to try reading some of the parenting magazines and browsing through the parenting section in your local library (note this is sometimes shelved near the children's section).
Healthy eating for pregnancy: the complete guide to a healthy diet, before, during and after pregnancy
Amanda Grant
It is often said that you are what you eat, and that statement becomes even more factual when you are pregnant. There are many foods and substances that we are exposed to that can be harmful to a developing child, and can even prevent pregnancy. This book takes a complete look at all of the food and substance issues relating to trying to get pregnant, being pregnant, and the period shortly after birth. There are recipes in the back of the book that support the informative, and well laid out material in the rest of the book. There are two editions of this book with slightly different titles.
