IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is designed to assess the language ability of students who need to study or work where English is the principal language of communication.
A wide range of IELTS resources are available at Auckland City Libraries for both the Academic and General modules.
The Speaking and Listening tests are the same for both modules; the Writing and Reading tests are different.
Note : A new format for the Speaking Test was introduced in 2001. Books published before this date contain out-dated information on the Speaking Test, but still provide extensive practice for the Writing, Reading and Listening Tests.
Searching for IELTS resources in the library catalogue:
To search the material we have available, go to the library’s on-line catalogue and do a keyword search by entering "IELTS" as your search term. Sort/limit by date to find the most recent titles. You can also search by subject “International English Language Testing System“.
In the Central City Library, IELTS book and tape/CD sets are held at the Non Fiction Enquiries Desk on the First Floor. IELTS materials are very popular so customers are advised to request an item if they are after a particular exam paper or book.
Listening facilities for cassette tapes and CDs are available at the Central City Library on the First Floor.
The official IELTS website provides up to date details of the test format, marking criteria and local testing centres. |
