Hint: Start with an advanced search and click on ‘subject terms’. Then browse for the headings CATS and ANIMAL BEHAVIOR, clicking on each to add it to the search – make sure the Boolean operator is set as and. You should see the terms in the search box up the top. Add ‘and missing’ at the end of the box – this will add ‘missing’ in as a keyword.
2. What issue of Artforum international reviews Yayoi Kusama’s Love forever exhibition?
Hint: Use an advanced keyword search and enter Yayoi Kusama in the box. Then enter Artforum international as a publication and click the box to ‘automatically “And” search terms'.
3. Find a variety of articles on the website myspace.com
Hint: try using the visual search function to easily switch between articles and subjects. If you enter myspace into the search box up the top, the visual search will come up with a number of circles representing different subject areas. Within these circles will be other circles for related subjects as well as squares, which represent articles. As you run your mouse over the shapes the titles and headings will appear, and if you click on a square, the article will appear to the left. Click ‘Zoom back” to go back up a level, and ‘Top level’ to go back to the main list of subjects.
4. Find a list of fried chicken recipes
Hint: Use advanced keyword search, enter fried chicken and limit the search to recipes.
5. How would you email a document found using this database?
Hint: go into help at the top right corner. The information will be under ‘Print/email/save’.
6. Find articles from last month in New scientist
Hint: In a basic search enter New scientist as a publication, then limit the search to the last month.
7. What does the flag of Lithuania look like?
Hint: Click the images tag at the top of the screen. Enter Lithuania as a keyword and limit the search to flags.
8. Who was Zheng He?
Hint: Click on the subject heading, then on the people tab. Enter the name and add it to the search. |
