The Road Test Index is one of the many databases that Auckland City Libraries produces in-house. Staff selectively index the tests from the Central City Library's holdings of car and motorbike magazines. Entries range in date from the early 1960s to 2006, and the database now contains over 13,000 records.

Key content
Included in the index are all vehicles which we believe will be imported in reasonable numbers into New Zealand. This includes cars, light commercial vans and utes, four-wheel-drive vehicles, multipurpose vehicles, motorbikes, scooters, and farmbikes. Not indexed are heavy trucks, racing and non-standard modified models.

Search tips
There are two methods of searching the database:
- Keyword search (enter a word or words)
- Advanced search (using a combination of specific terms located in drop-down lists and “word wheels“)
Be aware that older records do not have information in all fields. If you find no records with your search, try entering just the make and model of vehicle.
