Press Display

Press Display is an online collection of international newspapers that lets you flick through the pages of the world's newspapers virtually.

It's designed mostly for browsing, and focuses less on text and more on page image - all in colour.

Search

(needs a library card barcode and PIN)

Key content

Press Display contains 200 newspapers from 55 countries, in almost as many languages.

New Zealand newspapers include the New Zealand Herald (needs a library card barcode and PIN).

Search tips

The homepage previews a variety of stories. You can browse what's displayed, or use the following tips to find something specific.

Click the 'Select newspaper' button to find newspapers:

  • by country
  • by language
  • alphabetically

Once you've picked a newspaper, the front page will display in the middle of the screen, with a table of contents and a navigation bar with display options. These include:

  • one and two page mode - show you either one page or a double page spread
  • thumbnails - show you the whole newspaper
  • zoom in - click on the magnifying glass. This will show a larger version. You can click and move this window around the page to get a zoomed-in view of images or text. Use the + or - buttons on the window to adjust the degree of zoom.

Use the same buttons to turn these options on and off.
