Global Books in Print

Global Books in Print is the world's largest web-based bibliographic resource.  It indexes over 11 million book, audio book and video titles.  It is an excellent way of tracking down that long-lost book, discovering other books by your favourite author or confirming the publishing details of your favourite text.

Key content

Each bibliographic record contains detailed publishing information as well as reviews, annotation, synopses and cover images.

Don't forget to check out the link to the Auckland City Libraries catalogue to find out if the book is available for loan.

Search tips

Global Books in Print offers a wide range of search options, making it easy to locate the book or movie you are looking for:

  • try a Quick Search using exact title, author, keyword or ISBN
  • change the status to 'in print', 'out of print' or 'forthcoming' to narrow down your search
  • use the Markets drop down menu to find the bibliographic details of a title in one particular country
  • not sure of the exact details?  Try Browse By Index and look through a list of titles, authors and publishers arranged alphabetically
  • have a look for books in your favourite topic in the Browse By General Subject option, which includes such diverse topics as antiques, performing arts and health and fitness
  • need to narrow your search further? Try the Advanced Search and narrow your search by language, country of publication and price range.
