Tips for parents/caregivers
Akozone homework centres will:
- encourage children to learn and practise study skills that they can use throughout their lives
- teach them to work independently, collaboratively and encourage responsibility
- help them to achieve more at school
- help to make more confident and enthusiastic learners.
Your child will be able to:
- practise what they have learned at school
- get ready for the next day's class
- use and become familiar with encyclopedias, atlases, dictionaries, newspapers, and the books in the library
- use the internet safely and effectively
- learn about interesting things they may not have the time to explore at school
- enjoy learning in an informal and welcoming library environment
- have time to read for enjoyment.
You can help by:
- showing that you think learning and homework are important
- ask them about what they have learned today and what they need to do for tomorrow
- help them plan their time and meet deadlines
- encourage and praise their efforts
- say “well done!”
