Learners and libraries have been partners for a very long time. Libraries are well prepared to help children in their learning needs with everything from the very first simple picture book through to detailed information for those ever increasing and complex homework assignments. Remember, the answer is at the library!
Reading
For help with your child’s reading, see our literacy page.
Research
Information on nearly every subject can be found in the Junior and Adult Non-Fiction sections. Top tip: Add the word “juvenile” a subject search on the catalogue and your search will be limited to books of use to children
Check out the homework machine for help finding children's information online or studylinks for the high school student.
Remember, too, that library staff are there to help.
Reference
Every library includes a reference section that has many useful sources of information, including: 032 encyclopedias; 423 dictionaries; 423.1 thesauri; New Zealand Official Year Book and the Bateman New Zealand Encyclopedia
CD-ROMS
We also have a comprehensive collection of CD-ROMs (on general education and mathematics) to help learners. |
