Q. What is a Popular Topic?

A. Popular Topics are pages filled with information, resources and discussions on some frequently asked for subjects.

Q. Do I have to be a member of Auckland City Libraries to create a website account?

A. No you do not however you do need a valid email address.

Q. Do I have to have a website account to comment on a popular topic?

A. Yes you do, for more information about setting up a website account see our personal account page.

Q. How do I comment on a popular topic? 

A. The bottom right hand navigation has a link to 'Start a discussion'.  Use this to start a discussion on a popular topic.

Once you click 'Start a discussion'

Your username will appear under the subject and will show you as the author of the discussion.

Enter an email address, which will be used if you tick the next option to subscribe to the discussion.

Subscribe to this discussion. Tick this box if you wish to be notified when someone replies to your comments. Leave this empty if you do not.

The subject is the title of your discussion.

The last box “Post” is where you write your comment.

Once you are happy with your comment you can chose to preview how your comment will appear before posting it. Or jump straight in and click 'OK' to post it.

Q. How do I view the discussions on a popular topic? 

A. Discussions appear at the bottom of the right hand navigation.

Q. Why do some titles in the popular topics word cloud appear larger then others? 

A. The more often a popular topic is accessed the larger it grows in the tag cloud.

Q. What do I do if I find an inappropriate comment? 

A. Under the comment you will see a link to 'Report this comment'.   If you see an inappropriate comment, click this link and the comment will be flagged.
