Services for members

As a library member a network of 16 community libraries, the Central City Library, the Mobile Library and the website are at your service.

Take a look at all the services available to members listed below and to the left. We want you to get the best from your library.

Borrowing services

As a library card holder* you can:

• Use your card at any of the 17 Auckland City Libraries and borrow up to 35 items**.
• Use the Mobile Library.

• Borrow books, magazines, Audio books, printed music, sound recordings, CD-ROMs, games, DVDs, videos, and jigsaws.
• Reserve the items you want which are in use or at another Auckland City library.
• Check out your own books and magazines using our self-issue machines.
• Renew items in person at any of our libraries, by telephone, or online via your account.
• Return your books to any of the 17 Auckland City Libraries.
• Request items that are not held by Auckland City Libraries through the interloan service.

*Borrowing privileges are available to all membership types except for Remote and Day Access Card.
** Bond members have a maximum borrowing limit of five items.

Research services

As a library card holder* you can:

• Read print and electronic versions of local and international magazines and newspapers.
• Have access to the vast range of specialised resources at the Libraries, including databases in the Digital Library.
• Use our research and document supply services for business information and more.
• Access specialist collections in the Central City Library, including international and New Zealand directories, statistics and standards.
• Use the Auckland Research Centre in the Central City Library, including Family History and Maori research collections.
• Ask your librarian :)

 * Some restrictions apply to the Remote and Day Access Card membership types.
