Auckland City Libraries believe every member of the community should have access to our services and collections. We offer a home delivery service called ‘Library to you’ for those who are physically unable to get to the library.
You may be eligible for our Library to you service if:
You live in Auckland city
You are unable to visit a library yourself
You have no one to get library items on your behalf
You are confined at home due to age, permanent or temporary disability or illness
You may receive support from an agency to enable you to remain in your own home, for example, Age Concern, Meals on Wheels, Home Help from social support etc
You do not live in a rest home where Auckland City Libraries services are already provided
What is involved?
Library staff will visit you to determine your reading preferences and to establish a delivery schedule
You will be allocated a volunteer to deliver when one is available. If we do not have volunteer for your area you will go on a waiting list until one is found
Library staff will select books, magazines, music CDs or audio books (books out loud, books on tape) for you according to your preferences
The selection is based on what is available on the shelves at the time the selection is done, this is as if you were visiting the library yourself
Library to you volunteers are selected and interviewed by the Library, will deliver items to you and return items you have finished with or, that are due back
The volunteer will not handle any money on your behalf
Your library account must be managed so that items are returned on time, the volunteers may help with the recovery of lost or overdue items
You are responsible for all items delivered to you, lost items will be charged for
