How to join the library

How do I become a member?

1. Check the Auckland city map to see if you can join for free.

2. Fill out a membership form. You can do this online, or at any of our libraries.

3. To get your library membership card come into a library in person and bring:

Membership cards.

  • Personal identification -

either one kind of photo ID, or two kinds of non-photo ID. Overseas visitors will need to bring their passport and maybe required to pay a bond.
  • Proof of address

    - any letter addressed to you that has been posted to your residential address within the last four weeks.

Under 18?

If you are under 18, you will also need your guardian with you when you enrol. He or she will need to provide identification and proof of address. If you are not an Auckland city resident but attend school in Auckland city, you will also need to bring proof of school attendance, for example a student ID card.
