Parking in the Central City

Discounted parking for library customers

Auckland City Libraries in conjunction with Auckland City parking is pleased to offer customers discounted parking at Victoria Street carpark. The discounted parking rate of $4 applies at the following times:

  • Monday to Friday after 5pm
  • Saturday and Sunday all day
  • public holidays all day.

Vouchers will be available from all service desks in the Central City Library, and must be stamped with the current day's date (please check Central City Library's opening hours so you can be sure to obtain your voucher and stamp). The voucher and the carpark ticket should be handed to a cashier at the Victoria Street carpark prior to leaving. So, pay less for parking and pay a visit to Central City Library!

Parking at other times

Limited parking is available on the streets surrounding Central City Library. Pay and display conditions apply during the hours of 8am to 6pm, with a 60 minute parking limit during Monday to Friday and a 120 minute limit on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. There are three disabled parking spaces in front of Central City Library in Lorne Street. The closest parking building is the Civic car park in Greys Avenue/Mayoral Drive. For further parking options see the Auckland City parking guide.

Accessible car parks in Lorne Street

Opposite the Central City Library, near the corner of Rutland Street, there are two accessible (disability) car parks. The sign clearly states mobility permit holders only, parking is for maximum 120 minutes, and all others will be towed. This is a 24 hour arrangement. These are not metered carparks.

The car parks are painted with a yellow line and accessibility identifiers (the wheelchair symbol).

Along the road the pay and display area starts, with a sign pointing in a way that is meant to make it plain that the pay and display area does not apply to the accessible carparks. The pay and display parking has a variable maximum time of 60 or 120 minutes (week or weekend). The road markings (yellow lines) are similar to those of the accessible carparks - BUT no wheelchair symbol.

More about the mobility parking permit scheme, on the CCS website.
