Roll up, roll up for storytime three times a week!
Each storytime session is held on the ground floor of the Central City Library and includes stories, action songs, and hand rhymes.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to join in with our sessions which are noisy and interesting, and it is a chance to meet parents of other preschoolers.
Each 30 minute session includes some of the principles of Active Movement which helps children develop skills that support learning, and songs and hand rhymes to help develope early literacy and language skills for preschoolers.
Come along and join us for one of our three storytime sessions.
- Tuesdays at 10.30am
- Saturdays at 10.30am
- Sundays at 10.30am
Active Movement
Active Movement sessions provide information for parents about how to move and encourage their children to develop essential skills through movement. The sessions also include an active programme that includes movement and music.
While each session is targeted at 0 - 2 year olds, older children are welcome to attend with their parent or caregiver. Please feel welcome to stay after the session to socialise with other parents and children who attend the sessions.
The Central City Library provides an Active Movement session each week. Once a fortnight the session is provided through Sport Auckland, with the alternate session being provided by library staff.
Come along and join us for Active Movement.
Children’s interactive games
Playtime in the children’s department now comes with interactive projection games – the first in New Zealand.
More games been added that will appeal to the younger members of the family! Now they can practice their ABCs by standing on the letters and making animals appear. Or maybe you would like to stand on the ice and watch it crack as mysterious sea creatures appear and vanish under the ice.
Guaranteed fun for both children and adults alike.
