Toilet training

The transition from diapers or nappies to the potty can be quite a dilemma for most parents and kids. Here are some great books to read to the young ones while they sit and wait and wonder what it is all about.

On your potty

Virginia Miller

George takes good care of Bartholomew, even though Bartholomew always says "Nah" when George asks him to do something.  George wants Bartholomew to use the potty, but Bartholomew just says "Nah" - until George uses his big voice!  But will Bartholomew be able to use the potty?

This is the perfect book for young children who are interested in the potty but may not be quite ready to start using one - and be ready to hear "Nah" a lot!

I have to go!

Robert Munsch: illustrated by Michael Martchenko

Andrew and his mum and dad are going to see his grandparents.  It is a long trip by car and his parents have to make sure that Andrew goes to the toilet - but Andrew says he doesn't have to go.  The next thing they know Andrew is yelling that he has to go right now!  When they get to his grandparents Andrew is all ready in his snowsuit and then yells that he has to go.  Then later on....

This is a hilarious story for children who are just starting to get the hang of toilet training or who may still have the occasional accident.

Ruby's potty

Paul and Emma Rogers

Ruby has a nice, shiny pink potty.  She plays with it all the time and uses it to carry things - but does she really know what it is for?  She plays with it in the bath tub and in the sand pit too - but when her mum puts her on it Ruby doesn't do anything!

This is a brilliant book for the little person learning to use the potty in your house.
