Which seashell?

Seashells are amazing in their design and patterns.  Shells found on the beach can be hard to identify, but this book will help identify them and form the basis for an area of study.  The illustrations are clear, and there are full colour photos of most of the shells.

Collins field guide to New Zealand wildlife

Terence Lindsey and Rod Morris

An all round guide about New Zealand wildlife that includes whales and dolphins, birds, native mammals, introduced mammals, and various insect species.  The information is well laid out and will provide good information for homework topics.  Photographs of the animals helps with indentification.

 

What's on the beach: a guide to coastal marine life

Glenys Stace

A fully illustrated book with pictures of the different shellfish, jelly fish, and sea weeds that you find around the New Zealand coast.  Simple descriptions of the different plants and animals help you learn where they are from and what they feed on.
