Going to war in World War Two

A good resource for an overview of World War Two.  It covers the key points about the lead up to the war, as well as what happened during the war.  There is a helpful index and glossary, and there are interesting illustrations.

 

My childhood in Nazi Germany

A book for older children that contains photographs, maps, and other illustrations that show what life was like growing up in Nazi Germany.  There is a list of important dates at the back of the book, but there is no index.

 

Auschwitz

Jane Shuter

Auschwitz is one of the most recognised concentration camp, and this book looks at Auschwitz in history as well as what it looks like today.  This is an informative and well illustrated book that includes a helpful glossary.

Elsie was a brve woman who was imprisoned by the Nazi because she had tried to help a Jew escape.  Her life in prison was harsh, and though she was lucky to survive, she never gave up hope or lost her courage.

 

New Zealanders of action in World War Two

A fantastic book for information about New Zealanders who were involved in various aspects of World War Two.  The information is well laid out and includes helpful illustrations that make these four biographies easy to access.  A great resource with a glossary and simple index.
