Stellar star
Brigid Feehan
Stella means “star” in Latin, that’s why everyone calls her Stella Star. It was looking to be a summer of disappointments. Her best friend has moved away and now her family won’t be going to Mahia for Christmas, a favourite family holiday spot. Every summer Stella writes a play for her cousins to perform but who will be in it now? She has to ask her friends and neighbours plus someone new she met on the beach. How will it all work out? And what will she do when her neighbour Jonathon goes missing. I thought this would be a girly book because of the cover but it actually has quite a wide appeal and plus it is well written. Plus it is a New Zealand book too!!!

Antonia Cutlass walks the plank
Nicki Greenberg This book is very interesting but is very hard to explain. All I can say is that Antonia gets up to all sorts of tricks but then she ends up plotting to close down her Mum’s restaurant. Will they be stopped or will the doors of clams and cutlasses be closed forever?

Marley: a dog like no other
John Grogan This book is a true story about a cute mischievous dog with lots of adventures to his name (good and bad)! Most of them are written down in a funny way. Warning……. it starts to get sad towards the end (always keeping you on tenderhooks) but has an interesting ending.

Next stop, Neptune
Alvin Jenkins
This book is the best space book I’ve ever read! I love the solar system on the second page. By the way space is my favourite topic because I really like learning about comets and asteroids.
