Carnegie Medal

The Carnegie medal is awarded each year to the author who has written an outstanding book for children.

The award is named after Andrew Carnegie who helped to set up more than 2800 libraries during his lifetime. 

The Library Association started this award in 1936.

The winner of the award wins 500 British pounds worth of books to donate to the library of their choice, as well as a golden medal to keep.
