New Lynn

Batley, H.F. (Bert)
Only as I remember: a boy grows up in New Lynn 1930-1940. (1998)

Reminiscences of the author's early life, mainly in New Lynn, but he does include other parts of Auckland.

Batley, H.F. (Bert)
People and places, New Lynn 1930 - 1940, (2002) (incorporating an abridged Only as I remember)

A marvellous collection of recollections and research; it is a pity there is no index, nor really a contents list, but definitely worth dipping into.

Buffett, Peter.
New Lynn jubilee 1929 - 1989, the history of New Lynn. (1989)

Includes the origin of some street names, lists of borough councillors and many photographs.   New Lynn was the first borough in the area.

Raw, June.
Rail tracks and chimney stacks.(1998)

Published by the West Auckland Historical Society, the author describes her early life growing up near the New Lynn railway station and the ceramics factory. Also describes her local school, shops, and church, in the 1940s and early 1950s.

Simpson, Frank.
New Lynn past and present. (1964)

A general history.
