Ingham, Gordon. A short history of Waiheke and Who's Who 950 AD - 1952 A brief historical overview, and a who's who of the islanders in 1952.
Kawau Island Historic Reserve, Department of Conservation. (1998). A brief but well illustrated history.
Luff, Helen Jordan. Tales from Great Barrier Island. (2003).
This mixture of research and interviews provides an interesting history of the island.
Maddock, Shirley. Islands of the gulf. (1983). Includes some historical material on islands in the Hauraki Gulf.
Medland, Grace M. Great Barrier calls, an informative, authentic narrative, written by one of the pioneers born on Great Barrier Island. (1969) A personal but interesting history.
Monin, Paul. Waiheke Island: a history. (1992). A well-researched history of Maori and Pakeha settlement of the island, to 1920.
O'Brien, Cathy. A selective annotated bibliography on personal accounts of life on Waiheke Island 1900 to 2000. (2001).
