The Song of Tutankhamen

The lyrics of the Song of Tutankhamen, forcefully delivered by Mr Maurice Ballance who played the part of the Pharoah:

The feeble seasons come and go -
The fickle moon doth wax and wane -
The desert breezes whisper low
And in a twinkling rage amain.
But steadfast and serene I trow
Stands rocklike in the passing show -
Mighty Tutankhamen

The Nile descends with passage slow;
Then of a sudden comes the rain,
And fearful do the waters grow -
And then are shrunken once again.
Immutable I stand, although
All nature seeths with ebb and flow
Mighty Tutankhamen

An when I fare to meet the foe
Fear and elation I disdain
The women track the Pharaoh's bow
There where thickest lie the slain
I reek not of their hate or woe
As on my glorious path I go -
Mighty Tutankhamen

The secret traitor crouching low
May strike and find his striking vain -
A deathless body to bestow
On me the pristine gods fain.
Behold I am devine, and lo -
I laugh at the assassin's blow
I am Tutankhamen
