The costumes

According to a writer in the Auckland Weekly News from 20 September 1923 (p. 50):

The costumes designed in exquisite blendings of colour were extremely beautiful and strikingly effective. Rich and gorgeous materials were adorned with scintillating jewels and the flowing veils of the women fell over shimmering garments of dazzling magnificence. The robe of the Queen was in a deep shade of emerald with heavy gold embroideries, in charming contrast with the purple and pale heliotrope gauzy drapings of her attendants. In the harem scene another brilliant effect was produced by the dazzling array of costumes which were carried out in delightful colour schemes.
