Olympic Games

Greece was the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games. In 1896 the modern Olympics re-emerged in Athens.

Beijing, China is the site of the XXIX Olympics, to be held 8 - 24 August 2008.

Some facts from the 2004 Athen's Olympics:

    athletes and

    5,500

    team officials from 201 National Olympic Committees  participated.
  • 21,500

    members of the media covered the games.
  • The Olympic Village housed

    16,000

    athletes and team officials.
  • Some

    45,000
