Lending and reference copies

Check with library staff for the availability of printed copies of the road code. Because it is a very popular publication, copies to take home are not always available at your local library. You may need to place a hold or request and wait for a lending copy to become available. For that reason, all of our libraries have printed copies of the road code available for reference only, so that you can read a copy at the library. Ask at the desk.

Search the catalogue for lending copies:

The official New Zealand road code for car drivers: advice on the law and licence guide.
Available at the Central City Library (1st floor) and all community libraries both as reference and lending copies. Located at shelf (Dewey) number 629.283 O32.

The official New Zealand road code for motorcyclists: advice on the law and licence.
Available at the Central City Library (1st floor) and some community libraries both as reference and lending copies. Located at shelf (Dewey) number 629.2847 D68.

The official New Zealand road code for heavy vehicle drivers: advice on the law and licence guide.
Available at the Central City Library (1st floor) and some community libraries both as reference and lending copies. Located at shelf (Dewey) number 629.2844 D68.

Note

: Because there are usually only minor changes changes to the laws related to driving and transport between the printing of new editions of the road code, you will need to check online for those minor changes, if you are sitting your exam soon.

Some recent important changes that all people sitting their exam should note, can be found at the LTNZ web page: New road rules from 27 February 2005.  These are rule changes affecting pedestrian crossings, special vehicle lanes and signalling at roundabouts.
