United Nations, FAO and UNESCO

Auckland City Libraries receives a varied selection of UN documents. The collection does not include all UN materials. 

Official documents of the UN from 1993 onwards may be searched online at ODS search, which also provides access to the resolutions of the General Assembly, Security Council, Economic and Social Council, and Trusteeship Council from 1946 onwards. Materials from 1979 onwards can be traced through the UN's bibliographic information system

Some of the major agencies the Central City Library has materials from include:

  • United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
  • United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
  • International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
  • International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)

There is also a selection of items from other sources:

  • United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP)
  • The World Trade Organization (WTO)
  • Asian Development Bank (ADB)


Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO)

The Auckland City Libraries' FAO collection contains food research reports and statistics relating to food industries such as fisheries, forestry, dairy produce, gardening and genetic engineering.

 


 

United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organisation (UNESCO)

The UNESCO collection includes research and statistics relating to issues such as culture and world heritage. UNESCO is currently promoting the international decade for a culture of peace, 2001-2010, and the United Nations decade for literacy, 2003-2012.
