Writing to get published

Auckland City Libraries have many resources that can help you get your writing up to standard and explore the market for getting it published. Here are some ways to find what you need.

Want to improve your writing skills?

The writing guides are at the Dewey (shelf) number 808.

The range of books covers many varieties of writing, including fiction, poetry, freelance journalism, business reports, autobiographies and even cookbooks.

Want some advice on editing your work?

Books on editing are at Dewey numbers 808.02 – 808.029. These include general books on editing and more specific style guides for different forms of writing (e.g., journalism or business writing).

Books on preparing manuscripts for publication are found at the Dewey number 029.6.
