New Zealand short stories

Short story collections are shelved under the author's name. Anthologies of various authors are shelved by title. If you know the name of a story, search the catalogue using title keyword.

Key reference books:

The Oxford history of New Zealand literature

Includes a chapter that discusses the evolution of the short story in New Zealand literature.

The Oxford companion to New Zealand literature

Contains A-Z entries on significant writers, titles, journals and concepts. Many of the author entries can also be found on the New Zealand Book Council website.

New Zealand literary magazines:

Reference copies of Landfall, J.A.A.M, Sport, Takahe and Glottis are available in the Auckland Research Centre, on the second floor of the Central library.

Lending copies of Landfall and Sport are also available at the Central Library.

Use Index New Zealand to search for a story by title, author or publication (available on library computers).
