Find answers to questions in this quiz by searching the Literature Resource Center.


1. Find a list of authors from the “Harlem Renaissance” movement

Hint: 

Use the “author type” search and select Harlem Renaissance on the Literary Movement list.

2. Find a New Zealand poet who writes on the theme of “alienation”

Hint: 

Again, use author type.  Choose “New Zealander” as nationality, poetry as genre and “alienation“ as a theme.


3. What was the first novel published by J. G. Ballard?

Hint: 

Enter “Ballard, J. G.” on the author search box on the main page.  Use the link to the Contemporary Authors profile, which covers life and works.


4. Find a critical essay on Carson McCullers’ The member of the wedding

Hint: 

Use the advanced search function and enter the author’s name and title.  Limit the current search to critical essays.


5. Find the winner of the 1969 Pulitzer Prize in letters-general non fiction

Hint: 

Use the Literary-Historical timeline search, and search between 1969 and 1970.


6. What are some of the key aspects of Imagism?

Hint: 

Click on the “Encyclopedia of Literature” button at the top of the screen.  Enter “Imagism”.


7. Find an interview with Charles M. Schulz

Hint: 

Use advanced search and enter Schulz, Charles under author.  Limit the search to interviews.


8. Find some critical essays on postmodern feminists

Hint: 

Do a keyword search for “postmodernism” and “feminism”.  Click on the Literary Criticism, Articles and Work Overviews button.


9. Find an essay about Byron written by Camille Paglia

Hint:

  Use advanced search.  Select critic and enter Paglia, Camille and enter Byron under Author, using the Boolean operator AND.


10. Find a list of websites on Christopher Isherwood

Hint: 

Use advanced search.  Limit the search to “website list“.  Enter Isherwood under author and search.
