1. How would you find articles published from recent conferences on diabetes?
Hint: Use Subject guide search and type in 'diabetes'. This provides a list of diabetes-related subjects. Under the main subject 'diabetes' choose 'Narrow search' and select 'Conferences, meetings and seminars'.
2. How do you find publications on the Spanish Civil War? Or publications about any war involving the Spanish?
Hint: Type 'Spanish Civil War' into the Keyword search to find articles on the Spanish Civil War. By using the Boolean operator 'AND' many articles relating to other wars are found - 'Spanish AND war'
3. What 'Business traveller' magazines are there, and how long after publication before articles are reproduced on the InfoTrac OneFile site?
Hint: Use the Journal search and type in 'Business traveller'. Choose the edition you want. To find out how long before articles are reproduced, click on 'Title list' from the left hand menu, then choose 'Embargo list' to see the time period.
4. Find articles and publications relating to the Air New Zealand disaster at Mt Erebus.
Hint: Use Relevance search and type in 'Air New Zealand' and 'Erebus'. In order to restrict all the articles on Air New Zealand to only those relating to Mt Erebus, use a plus sign (+) before Erebus. Also, to limit the search to 'Air New Zealand' and not just those that contain the individual words 'air' and 'new' and 'zealand', put 'Air New Zealand' in double quotation marks. Your search should look like this: “air new zealand” +erebus
5. Find articles published about Afghanistan's economy in 2002.
Hint: Use Advanced search, and select the index 'subject'. Type in 'afghanistan AND economic' Note AND and NOT can be used in the search. To restrict the results to those published in 2002 only, enter '2002' in the date box.
