Maps Online is a selection of heritage maps from our collection that have been catalogued and digitised. This includes significant maps from throughout New Zealand, from the 1830s to the 1950s.

Key contentMaps Online contains over 1000 records for both printed maps and unique manuscript material from Special Collections. These are mostly from New Zealand, with some from the Pacific and Australia. The collection includes hydrographic charts, street maps, topographic maps and architectural plans. An extensive range of subjects are covered from the New Zealand wars to sewerage disposal, from Queen Street to Fiordland. Or, browse the lists of frequently requested mapsOnce in a record, images can be enlarged to see more detail. The library holds higher resolution images that can be ordered from us or copies of the maps can also be purchased. Email us for more information. All material is available to be viewed at Special Collections in the Central City Library.
