Downloadable Media - FAQs

Man listening to eAudio book on a MP3 player. Who is the "creator"?

Every book has an author and a reader.  When you do a "creator" search, the search finds both authors and readers.

How long is the loan period?

The loan period is 14 days.

Can I return a title early?

A title will only be returned once the loan period expires. There is no option to return it early.

How do I check out an eAudiobook that I have requested?

When a requested title becomes available, an email will be sent. You have five days to check it out before it goes to the next person in the queue. To check the title out, sign into My Media Account, view My eRequests and click the 'add to eCart' link beside the title. Once you add a title to your eCart it will only remain there for 60 minutes. You will then need to proceed to checkout to issue the title.

Once I have a copy of a book, can I keep it until I finish listening to it or does it expire?

If you download a title to your PC, you have access for the loan period. After that you won’t be able to open the file unless you check it out again.

Can I download eAudiobooks to a library computer?

You can browse a title, listen to the audio sample, or check it out on a library computer. But you cannot download a title to a library computer.
