Chinese collections

Check out the thousands of Chinese books and resources at Auckland City Libraries.

Newspapers

Get up-to-date news from online Chinese newspapers through the News Zone on our website. Popular newspapers include the China daily, Hong Kong standard and The sun. Or, read the South China morning post in our newspaper room at Central City Library.  We also have Chinese language newspapers in digital format on the Press Display database in our Digital Library

Books

Take a look at our Chinese fiction and non-fiction titles, plus books for children. These books are published in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Chinese books (adult and children fiction and non-fiction) started floating in May 2007. This means that a book will stay at the library branch it is returned to. You can find Chinese books at Central City Library and most of our community libraries including Epsom, Mt Albert, Mt Roskill, Panmure, Remuera, Avondale, Blockhouse Bay, Onehunga.

Magazines

We stock over 10 Chinese language magazines including Duzhe, Jiating Yisheng, Mali Jiare and Ming Bao.  Try the Dragonsource database for access to popular magazines on a wide variety of topics. The magazine content is fulltext, and is available in both simplified and traditional Chinese characters.

History

Check out our Chinese history and family history collection held in the Auckland Research Centre at Central City Library.

Music

Listen to a range of popular and traditional Chinese music. Check out new Chinese CDs on our monthly new music CDs lists.
