Mt Eden and Epsom

There are many local histories covering either the Mount Eden or Epsom area:

Looking south east by south from the firebell tower in Symonds Street towards Mount Eden, showing Mount Eden Road (foreground) with premises of C. Lynch (bootmaker) at the right on the corner of Nikau Street (centre foreground) London Bakery (left) on corner of Boston Road, Enfield Street, Mary Street and Harold Street.

Angelo, Faye M.

A well-written social history, including schools, churches and sport. Well indexed.

Baker, Jack.

The author's detailed reminiscences of his "patch", at the corner of Onslow Avenue and the Drive, Epsom. Includes the names of many local residents in the above period.

Bush, Graham W.A.
Decently and in order, the government of the City of Auckland 1840 - 1971, the centennial history of the Auckland City Council. (1971)

The Epsom Road Board amalgamated with Auckland City from 29 January 1917, and there is much of relevance in this superb history of local government activities.

In 1991 Bush followed this with Advance in order, the Auckland City Council from centenary to reorganisation 1971 - 1989.

The Auckland Research Centre has the large index to the notes of both these works.
