Searching the catalogue:
There are many books related to environment and ecology, so it is a good idea to be specific with your keywords when you are searching the catalogue. When searching for a specific environmental issue, use “keywords from subject terms”. Try specific terms like “global warming”, “climate change”,“ozone layer“; “greenhouse effect“; “sea level” ; or “air pollution“. If you wish to restrict the search to items on a particular area then try: “water pollution zealand” ; or “air pollution auckland“. If you wish to research the policy, historical and social dimensions of environmental issues try terms such as “environmental policy“, “environmental protection“, “green movement”, and “human ecology”.

Digital library databases
Search Proquest online (members only) for magazine and journal articles on environmental issues. You will need to enter your library card barcode number and your personal membership pin number. You can also find references to New Zealand magazine/newspaper articles on environmental issues by searching Index New Zealand, available through computer workstations in Auckland City libraries. |
