National Archives of Ireland
This site holds a wide range of records relating to of convicts from Ireland to Australia covering the period 1788 to 1868. To mark the Australian Bicentenary in 1988, the Taoiseach presented microfilms of the most important of these records to the Government and People of Australia as a gift from the Government and People of Ireland.
The index to the Irish Transportation Records is available here for online searching. The films are held in the Family History Collection at shelf number 2 AUS IRL.
Latter Day Saints' FamilySearch
This is a major resources, with references to nearly 400 million mainly birth and marriage events. Consider using the Custom Search option for a more focused search strategy. Also gives details of over 2 million rolls of microfilm and hundreds of thousands of books and maps described and catalogued. The microfilm and microfiche are available through LDS Family History Centres and also through the Auckland Research Centre.
