Global books in print  Lists in print English language books, audios and videos. Also has a fiction and new non-fiction “connection” section, offerring recommendations of what to read next.

Book clubs may meet in a physical or online space.  Examples of  book clubs, which may be of interest include:

New Zealand sites

Book-club - This site is for book club members to discuss what they are reading with other book clubs. Information on new releases in literary contemporary fiction genre and opinions / reviews of recent books. Check out the notice board for putting people who want to start or join a bookclub in touch with one another.

WEA book discussion scheme - This scheme began in 1973 and has extensive nation wide membership. Groups choose their books for the year from the BDS catalogue. Each member in the group receives a copy of the same book. The group discusses this book when they next meet. Titles include both fiction and non-fiction, and range from the classics through to recently published titles.

New Zealand Book Council - How-tos for starting book groups, stimulating discussions, developing themes, etc.


International sites

AARP  Online book club of the American Association of Retired Persons

Fantastic Fiction  This guide is great for fiction 'by series' and 'most popular books' as well as by author, title and genre.

Guardian A good site from the Guardian (UK). Includes non-fiction titles too.

Library Thing  This free site allows you to archive what you've read and find people worldwide who have similar reading tastes.  Check out the recommendations link!

Oprah  Online book club of Oprah Winfrey, American talk show host

Overbooked  This guide offers new and notable titles, titles by genre, and also a substantial non-fiction section.

Richard & Judy  This powerful duo have developed a huge following in the UK - whatever they recommend, people read!

Senior.net  International online book club from Senior.net

Whichbook.net  This guide allows you to search for books by characteristics such as happy, no sex, larger than life; by character, plot, and setting; and, by format such audiobook, large print, etc.

Worthy of publishing  This site allows you to preview and review books online for free.
