Heritage research

We offer family history research and Māori research into land, whakapapa and history. Just send your enquiry through our Ask a Librarian form or read more about family history on our website.


Music research

This is a research and advisory service for anyone needing information on music, recordings or sheet music. Contact us to arrange an appointment to view our closed access collections at the Central City Library.


Document supply

Email it 2 me delivers copies of material from the many books, magazines and online databases that make up our collections.

Interloan is a service for library members who wish to obtain material unavailable within our libraries, but held by other New Zealand or overseas libraries.

We can also provide copies and prints of heritage material (e.g. photographs and maps) from our Sir George Grey Special Collections.
