11 November 2008 was the 90th anniversary of Armistice Day. The armistice came into effect on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 and marks the moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front.

Throughout the country the return of soldiers to New Zealand is being commemorated in a series of events and exhibitions.
