Avondale 'Our stories' writing competition

Central City Library and Avondale College are holding their ‘Our stories’ writing competition prize-giving on Friday 29 August, to celebrate the rich depth and diversity of the students stories and talent.

The competition that ran from 8-23 July 2008, was developed by the Heritage team Central City Library and piloted at Avondale College.
 
The aim of the competition was to introduce students to their identity, not only encouraging them to tell their story but also to reinforce to them that their story is valued.

Their stories have been collated into an anthology of memories and a copy of this will be presented to all finalists during the prize-giving as well as being available in the Auckland Research Centre Central City Library, Special Collections Central City Library, Avondale College Library and Avondale Community Library.

SkyCity Community Trust and Avondale Community Board generously sponsored this competition.
