International documents collection

Auckland City Libraries is home to a collection of documents from several major international organisations. We have a significant collection from the European Union, and maintain small assortments from the United Nations [UN], Food and Agriculture Organisation [FAO], United Nations Educational Scientific Cultural Organisation [UNESCO] and the World Trade Organisation [WTO].

While key international documents are displayed on the First Floor of the Central City Library, the majority of the collection is stored in the basement and can be located using the catalogue.

The collection is reference only.


European Union

The European Union collection contains documents about:
  • European politics and social policy
  • European law
  • European trade regulations
  • European funding sources

Food and Agriculture Organisation

The documents in the FAO collection consist of food research reports and statistics relating to various food and agriculture industries.

Industries covered include:
  • Fisheries
  • Forestry
  • Dairy produce
  • Gardening
  • Genetic engineering


United Nations

The United Nations collection is not comprehensive. The collection consists of selected documents from the following agencies:
  • United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
  • United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
  • United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP)

United Nations Educational Scientific Cultural Organisation

The documents in the UNESCO collection feature statistics and research concerning culture and world heritage.


There is also a selection of items from other sources:

  • The World Trade Organization (WTO)
  • Asian Development Bank (ADB)
  • International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
  • International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)
