Volunteers needed to deliver to homebound customers


The Library to You service provides continuing library service to homebound customers who cannot travel to a library because advancing age or a disability is impairing their mobility, and who have no alternative means of obtaining library materials.

 

  • You can volunteer at any of the 17 Auckland City Libraries
  • You will receive library membership with special borrowing privileges



What’s involved?

  • Library staff select a bag of items for the homebound customer based on the customer’s expressed preferences
  • You collect a bag of items from the library for each customer, every two or four weeks
  • You deliver the items to the homebound customers’ homes
  • You collect from the customer the items they have finished with or that are due back and return these to the library

You will need to:

  • Complete a Registration of Interest form. You can print off the attached form: download PDF form (34kb)
  • Give Auckland City Council permission to request a copy of any personal information held by New Zealand Police relating to criminal convictions
  • Supply a copy of your driver’s licence
  • Give your own time and use your own car to deliver the service
